Description:

The War Memorial was previously sited up on Bigholm Hill nicknamed ‘cannon hill’ as there was a WW1 fieldgun placed beside it, in 1920. It was moved in 1947 to its current location. The garden where it now stands was donated to the town of Beith by Lady Cochran-Patrick in 1934. It stands on an octagonal stepped plinth; octagonal pedestal inscribed with names of the fallen with cornice above; octagonal column, laurel wreath at base, with celtic knotwork terminating in celtic cross. It is pale grey granite and set within paved surround with low coped sandstone wall and steps to monument.
