  • WHAT IS A SENSE OF PLACE TOOLKIT?

    This sense of place toolkit is a digital document which highlights what makes the communities in the Places That We Know area unique and distinctive. It aims to outline a strong identity for these communities supported by interesting and factual examples, case studies and guidelines for promoting and celebrating local distinctiveness. The toolkit includes maps, graphics, photography, theming, and text for a variety of uses.

  • WHO IS IT FOR?

    This toolkit can be useful in different ways to everyone interested in what makes places in the Muirshiel Hills, Lochwinnoch, Garnock Valley, Three Towns, Kilwinning and Irvine special!

      To learn more about the place you live or work and what makes it special

      To find inspiration for locally distinctive enterprise and branding, to develop key messages for customers or visitors

      To develop lesson plans or projects that have a local heritage or nature focus

    All of the text and graphic content in the Sense of Place Toolkit is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license. That means you are able to:

    • download, copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;

    • remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially.

    • So long as you also:

    • Give appropriate credit to Places That We Know, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests Places That We Know (or Garnock Connections) endorses you or your use.

    • If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.

    Exceptions
